You choose the seller; the grid company comes with your address. The seller's part of the bill is where the savings are, and for an apartment the deciding number is the monthly fee.
The comparison
| Contract | Type | Margin or price | Monthly fee | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fortum English service | spot or fixed | low-to-mid margin | a few euros | Newcomers who want everything in English and a big-company app |
| Helen | spot or fixed | low-to-mid margin | a few euros | Helsinki residents; the city's own energy company |
| Väre | spot or fixed | competitive | low | Price-focused customers, Finnish-language service |
| Oomi | spot or fixed | competitive | low | Owned by several city utilities; often among the cheapest spot margins |
| Nordic Green Energy | spot | low | low | Renewable-only spot contracts |
| Lumme Energia | spot or fixed | competitive | low | Frequently near the top of the official comparison |
Prices checked 19 September 2026. Spot contracts add the seller's margin and a monthly fee to the hourly market price; the market price is the same for everyone. Transmission from your grid company is billed separately and cannot be changed. Use sahkonhinta.fi, the Energy Authority's official comparison, for today's exact numbers.
How to choose
- Apartment with district heating: spot contract, lowest monthly fee you can find, low margin. Your yearly use is a few thousand kilowatt hours, so the fee dominates.
- House with electric heating: compare the price per kWh above all; many people fix the price for the winter and go spot in summer.
- Everyone: avoid the open-ended default contract, and check once a year.
