Every Finnish resident pays for a mobile plan every month, and the difference between the cheapest sensible plan and the default one is around a hundred euros a year. Here is the market for someone who lives here.

How to choose

  1. Day one: prepaid from the kiosk, no paperwork.
  2. After the henkilötunnus: a contract. Pick the app-based operator if you never need a shop; pick a main brand if you want English service in person, a phone on instalments or a bundle with home internet.
  3. Check the price after the campaign, the EU roaming allowance if you travel, and whether calls to your home country are included or metered.
  4. Port your number; it is free.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest mobile plan in Finland?

For most people, an app-based operator on one of the three networks, such as Moi Mobiili on DNA's network, with a limited or unlimited data tier for roughly ten to twenty euros a month. The three main brands cost more and include shops and bundles.

Is 5G worth paying for?

For a phone, rarely. A 100 Mbit/s 4G or 5G plan streams video and video calls without effort. 5G tiers matter if you use the phone as your home internet.

Which operator should I choose for coverage?

In cities all three are equivalent. Outside cities, ask locals which network is strongest in that specific area; the operators' coverage maps are honest.
